True Orthophotography
To better serve our clientele, Bohannan Huston, Inc. provides the service of True ortho imagery. An ortho is a digital aerial image which has the radial distortion corrected (rectified). A TRUE ortho is an ortho that has even greater correction for radial distortion so as to prevent building lean. As a result, streets and sidewalks underneath the buildings can be seen where as in a regular ortho the same streets and sidewalks are blocked by building lean.
True orthos require two steps. The first is to capture the aerial photography of the area intended with a higher percentage of overlap. The next step is creating a surface that has a good representation of the building roof tops. With a higher percentage of overlap, buildings are captured in a more nadir position (directly vertically downward) minimizing building lean. A surface that includes the roof tops will help keep the true position of the building during the radial distortion correction (rectification), allowing the features on the ground beneath the building to be shown.
True orthos are a good option for heavy urban downtown areas. True Orthos provide our clients with more data that would have otherwise been unknown. As a result, Bohannan Huston's clients are allowed to better plan, develop, design, and have a more precise analysis of data.
