Geodetic/Geomatic Surveys
Bohannan Huston's extensive experience in geodetic surveying includes the setting and maintaining of project and photo control as the primary tie for projects to real world coordinates. Using Static, RTK and GIS grade GPS as well as conventional and reflectorless total station technology, we support all types of topographic mapping, location and utility surveys, forensics mapping and GIS ground data collection.
Terms and Definitions
Photo Control/Project Ground Control
Our Bohannan Huston's survey projects of high order geodetic control that tie aerial mapping and project designs to real-world coordinates include setting up permanent geodetic control networks for municipalities and hydrographic mapping of the Rio Grande.
Topographic Mapping
Maps that present the horizontal and vertical positions of the features represented; distinguished from a planimetric map by the addition of relief in measurable form.
Location Surveys
A planimetric map representing the horizontal positions only for the features represented with attribute data used for engineering plans.
Utility Mapping
A mostly subsurface planimetric map representing the horizontal positions specifically for utility features such as pot holing and as-builts, used in engineering plans.
Forensic Mapping
Bohannan Huston performs time-sensitive surveys for areas that need to be preserved (e.g., plane crashes) that provide accurate and precise location and exact position information to be used for legal defense purposes.
GIS Ground Data Collection
Bohannan Huston collects attributed GIS (Geographic Information Systems) data at GIS accuracies for population or updating of existing databases. Survey data is colected with real-time correction and electronic data dictionaries, both on foot and vehicle to create a high volume of data in a quick time frame.
