Bohannan Huston, Inc. and its teaming partner, 3001, Inc., were selected to provide professional services to obtain high resolution natural color digital orthoimagery for an area encompassing 970 square miles of Bernalillo County, NM and additional square miles in Valencia, Sandoval, Santa Fe and Torrance Counties.

The orthoimagery will be used by a variety of public entities for base map feature extraction and feature updating, land use/land cover analysis, detecting property improvements, and drainage, roadway and site planning studies.

To accomodate the multi-teamed agencies that participated in the MRCOG 2004 Digital Orthoimagery project, various products are being created to support the aforementioned applications. The products vary in horizontal accuracies, and there were Digital Terrain Model (DTM) updates within Bernalillo County along specific high corridors.

  The DTM updates were accomplished with new aerial LIDAR acquisition supplemented with breakline information collected in a stereo environment. This project is the second largest orthophotography project performed in the State of New Mexico utilizing the new Z/I Digital Mapping Camera (DMC). Work on this contract began with data collection in Spring 2004 and is anticipated to be completed in September 2004.
